Finding the right site is often one of the biggest barriers for retailers looking to grow, but this recent KeyStore opening in Peebles shows what is possible with the right support in place.
Retailer, Mujahid, wanted to open another KeyStore but didn't have the option to purchase an existing business or take on a lease. Instead, we began searching for commercial business units, looking for the right opportunity.
Working closely with Mujihad, the team spent time visiting surrounding KeyStores in the nearby area, helping shape what the right opportunity could look like. When this store came up in Peebles, KeyStore supported in connecting with the landlord via established contacts and were able to secure a long-term lease agreement.
This early stage support, going above and beyond to help retailers secure the right site, is just an example of the business support offered by KeyStore.
Once access to the store was available, the focus turned to the refit.
The site presented a unique challenge, with a large portion of the shop floor only accessible via stairs, limitng usability for many customers. Working closely with Mujahid, the KeyStore team redesigned the space to make it more inclusive and commercially effective.

The finished result is a store that works for both the retailer and the local community, with the rear accessible entrance proving particularly popular with local customers.
